Magnificence Stellaire
Kinetic Ring. 14K gold, sterling silver, black opal, chrome diopsides, emerald, moonstones, pearls
"Magnificence Stellaire was inspired by the immensity of the starry sky in the farthest reaches of the northern hemisphere. The central stone, a black opal, partially transparent, with bright blue and purple flake firefall portrays the aurora borealis with colorful and turbulent wisps of air in the vibrant darkness of the night. In this ring, the stone rotates freely, 360 degrees in four directions yet remains facing up at all times. This is the result of a carefully designed and complex mechanism that allows for a smooth, delicate motion in order to reproduce the dynamic of the aurora borealis. This system consists of various elements including eight white freshwater pearls, which symbolize the lunar phases. On the sides of the ring, several golden drops shimmer, tracing the magnificence of the Milky Way. It also features moonstones that epitomize the black holes of our universe. It represents not only the magnitude of the sky, but also the importance of each different element in our system. A vast sky that unites us all despite the great distances that separate us." This ring was selected for the exhibit at the Canada Guest Pavilion during the Cheongju International Craft Biennale 2009 in South Korea, the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Winter Games exhibition at the MOV, Museum of Vancouver as well as for the Exhibition Out of this Space at the Forbes Galleries, New York and at the Carnegie Art Museum, Pittsfield.

Cosmic Dream
Double Ring. 14K gold, sterling silver, chrome diopsides, pearls, chalcedony
"With an architectural approach, this double ring entitled Cosmic Dream, can be used on both sides : four sculptural rings in one. The design of this ring was inspired by natural metamorphosis."

Centaurea
Necklace. Thermoformed polyethylene (PE), oxidized sterling silver
24" long x 3.3" wide
Collier from the Tooi, Festive Adornment series.
"The collier Centaurea, which I made for Mobilia Gallery consists of about 140 pressed Polyethylene (PE) forms. Each form is made separately: colored PE-granules and threads are arranged in a kind of mini-collage. By heating and pressing the collage, the loose elements merge into one piece to create very light and flexible forms. I do not use templates: the contour and pattern of these forms are created by the impact of pressure. After completing the forms they are strung together on a silver chain. The collier is voluminous and exuberant: I want to represent the fullness and lively dynamic of summer and for the first time I used the color gold in order to represent sunlight in this piece. To me, a necklace is a unity, a closed circle where each single part communicates with the next. It is a composition and I direct the outcome of the finished piece by joining individual parts."
