Statement
I have always been attracted to shape and subtle marks. The human eye is capable of noticing the subtlest of transitions and movements. Often, it is the mind that is too busy to take note. Realizing, like Robert Irwin did long ago, that these transitions will never be realized in photographic reproductions, I content myself on rewarding the viewer who takes the time to study and enjoy the work. It is one of the reasons I work in the jewelry medium. When an accomplished painter held one of my pieces, she was amazed at the texture. She said it felt like satin and kept running her fingers over and over it. The intimate nature of wearing a work of art, of having to handle it and hold it to put it on, allows the viewer to interact with and experience it in ways that are impossible with other drawing mediums.
